Today in Beauty: Palladio Rice Powder, Kendall Jenner Restless Lipstick, Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask

Palladio Rice Powder Kendall Jenner Restless Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask

A quick look at what I’m using today –
Palladio Rice Powder in Warm Beige. This powder is wonderful for both dry and oily skin, because it’s light enough to rest easily on dry skin, but is also oil-absorbing. This is the darkest of the three shades available, and because I have fair skin I use it as a light bronzer in summer. For those with darker skin, it would work well as a natural/translucent powder over makeup or to absorb oil.  get Natural or Translucent if you want a mattifying/oil-absorbing powder.Available at Ulta for $5!

Kendall Jenner Limited Edition “Restless” for Estée Lauder, in their Pure Color Envy Matte range. Gorgeous orange red, alas limited edition. *clutches*

Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask. ‘I’ve been trying out this widely-loved Korean mask. It’s an overnight mask you apply on top of your other skincare and has herbs, mulberry, pomegranate, and walnut to brighten, nourish, and moisturize.  I purchased the 30ml sample size for $15 on Amazon (it’s a surprising amount of product so is lasting me quite a few uses).

Dear by Enprani Moistfull Booskin Review

So, while I have sold my soul to the Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence, which is literally THE product that both sold me on Asian skincare and has made more difference in my skin than any other single product, I’m also relentlessly fickle, and when I saw the rave reviews of this hydrating toner, particularly from Gothamista, one of my favorite Youtubers, I had to try it (plus, look at that luxurious packaging, *swoon*).

Description

This toner has a rich blend of hyaluronic acid and premium green collagen which effectively delivers moisture deep into the layers of skin. It provides twice the amount of intensive hydration to the skin to revel a more supple, firm texture. It is also specially formulated to supply long-lasting moisture and nourishment to keep the skin healthy and radiant.

Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment Review

Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment Review

Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment Review

Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment is one of the few beauty products out there that is absolutely worth the hype. Seemingly every Youtuber and beauty blogger out there has raved about this over the past couple of years, and after picking it up with skepticism and using it on and off for the past six months or so, I can tell you – it’s worth it.

Kiehls Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment is formulated with avocado oil to nourish and hydrate the eye area. Kiehls says the cream is made with “highly effective natural ingredients”, which you should take with a grain of salt because Kiehls is not an all-natural or organic brand, so the cream certainly contains ingredients that are not all-natural. However, the cream itself is an incredibly rich and yes, creamy treatment – it’s a light green that’s quite close to the actual color of avocados, which you would think would be a turnoff, but when you apply it, and see how eagerly your skin gulps it up and how lightly the thick cream absorbs into your skin, you’ll cease to care at all about color.

Honestly, the texture of this is closest to butter, which I love – thick, but immensely soft, and melts (you can tell it has oil in it) into the skin as soon as you dab it on your eye area.

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel Review

Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling GelSecret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel is one of the Korean brand’s more popular products. I received it recently in a Memebox and after using for a few weeks, am ready to give a review!

Description

Secret Key’s Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel is an exfoliator of the new “gommage” type variety, that claims to use lemon extract and lemon water to gently “peel” (aka exfoliate) the skin, and Vitamin C to brighten.

NYX Ombré Blush Review

NYX ombre blush NYX ombre blush in Strictly Chic review today!

This is a newish launch from drugstore brand NYX, and features a range of powder blushes that tap into the ombré trend, i.e. color shading from darker to lighter. These cost $10 each at Ulta.

Review: I love NYX as a brand, but this is not one of their better products. I picked this up in Strictly Chic, which is a light coral shade. My first disappointment was that there’s no color shading to speak of – while this has several different hues in the pan, in goes on as just one shade. Said shade is extremely pretty, but the pigmentation is SO light that I had to apply several layers in order to get decent color payoff.  This is described as a buildable formula, but it’s too much so – I shouldn’t have to apply several layers (on my already fair skin!) just to get a basic flush. I also found the staying power to be alright but not fantastic. I will say that once on, it looks fairly natural and rests well on the skin.

Overall, the NYX Ombré Blush is a pleasant but unexceptional product that feels like it should be around $6 or $7, and I would not say is worth the $10 price point. You get a lot of product, but the color payoff is minimal. If buildable powder blushes are your thing, this is a decent product. Otherwise, I recommend the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes, which cost $8 and while they’re slightly more difficult to apply, are far more pigmented – my favorite is the Candy Coral which gives a rosy, gorgeous flush – one swipe of any of these babies delivers all the color you need.

Today in Beauty: Kendall Jenner for Estée Lauder and Hugo Boss Deep Red

Kendall Jenner Limited Edition “Restless” for Estée Lauder, in their Pure Color Envy Matte range. This is, alas, no longer available, though some of their current shades are similar, (try “Volatile”), but it is gorgeous. A bright, poppy orange-red that looks frighteningly vivid when you first apply it but dries down to just a prism of gorgeous color. I LOVE this shade and will be sad when I’ve used it all up (however it is fairly drying so not the perfect lipstick).

Hugo Boss Deep Red – I’ve been using Scentbird (not a sponsored link) for a couple months to try out new perfumes, and this was May’s scent. I like a good deal, though still too sweet for my taste (I swear my skin turns all perfumes sweet no matter their undertones). A “spicy” scent that’s a blend of flowers, californian cedarwood, mysore wood and vanilla.

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Mango Magic Brightening Mask Review

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Mango Magic Brightening Mask Review

Baviphat Urban Dollkiss Mango Magic Brightening Mask Review! This has a ridiculously long name and a really unusual formula, and has been doing such wonders for my skin for the past two weeks that I’m going ahead and calling it a Holy Grail.

Description

Baviphat is a Korean brand I’ve never heard of before, but this came in my monthly Beauteque beaut box, and I had a good feeling as son as I saw the cutesy packaging in my favorite color. Description: oxygenating bubbles offer a deep cleaning of skin while aloe vera extracts soothe and moisturize. Use: Apply to cleansed face and wait 2 minutes. Rinse.

Pacifica Rice Bright Cleansing Paste Review

Pacifica Rice Bright Cleansing Paste Review

Pacifica Rice Bright Cleansing Paste Review! Spoiler alert: I am amazed by how much I love this.

A month or so ago, I tried and wasn’t impressed with Pacifica’s Skin Revival Microdermabrasion Scrub – it just didn’t do anything at all for my skin the way other, better scrubs, like Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub with sea kelp, have. And, because I’m easily burned, I resolved to not spend more money on Pacifica products. However, when I spotted the Pacifica Rice Bright Cleansing Paste in the aisle at Ulta, the packaging was SO gorgeous, and the description so intriguing, I had to pick it up. It has two unusual ingredients – rice and lemongrass – the former of which I associate with Asian skincare, and the latter of which I’m not sure I’ve ever seen in a skincare product.
