Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Intense Mask Review

superfacialist una brennan rose mask review

Una Brennan is a mid-range skincare line with products that retail for around $20. Una Brennan’s Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Intense Moisture Mask has been well-reviewed by beauty bloggers, and since I love rose skincare products and am in the market for a good hydrating mask, I ordered this on Amazon.

Product claims:

Boost skin moisture levels and radiance with Superfacialist thirst-quenching Intense Moisture Mask developed even for the most sensitive skins. It expertly blends White Willow extract, known to enhance skin cell turnover, Vitamin E and Urea with soothing Marshmallow extract to effectively hydrate, plump and replenish skin.

Complexion appears calmer and visibly renewed, glowing with a healthier radiance.

My review:
I didn’t like it from the very first time that I tried it, but I wanted to like it so badly that I used it several more times. This was the first product from the brand that I tried, but I have since tried one other skincare product and can say that their packaging rules – the minimal, sleek white tubes with just a splash of color in the text to match the dominant ingredient (in this case pink for rose) is so appealing and lovely and professional.
Unfortunately, as much as a rose moisture mask sounds like a dream, my skin immediately refused to like this stuff. As per instructions, I washed my face then applied a thick, even layer all over face: it comes out as a white cream with a faint rose scent. After leaving on for 5-10 minutes, I washed off with lukewarm water. I noticed some slight plumping and brightening effect after applying this, but nowhere near the immediate results of other masks I’ve used.
More importantly, my skin felt downright uncomfortable – tight and rubbery. I’ve tried the mask twice more since then, and had the exact same reaction – if I didn’t know that this mask was specifically meant to hydrate, I would swear that it is actually drying, since my skin just feels tight after using it. I found myself reaching for a moisturizer a few minutes after washing this off, just to get my skin back to its normal comfortable texture. I also broke out one of the days after using this, and while this could have been a fluke, it’s not a chance I like to take with a product I like as little as this one.
I have dry, very mildly sensitive skin, and I could see this mask working well for someone with oily skin. Otherwise, give it a miss.
