NYX Ombré Blush Review

NYX ombre blush NYX ombre blush in Strictly Chic review today!

This is a newish launch from drugstore brand NYX, and features a range of powder blushes that tap into the ombré trend, i.e. color shading from darker to lighter. These cost $10 each at Ulta.

Review: I love NYX as a brand, but this is not one of their better products. I picked this up in Strictly Chic, which is a light coral shade. My first disappointment was that there’s no color shading to speak of – while this has several different hues in the pan, in goes on as just one shade. Said shade is extremely pretty, but the pigmentation is SO light that I had to apply several layers in order to get decent color payoff.  This is described as a buildable formula, but it’s too much so – I shouldn’t have to apply several layers (on my already fair skin!) just to get a basic flush. I also found the staying power to be alright but not fantastic. I will say that once on, it looks fairly natural and rests well on the skin.

Overall, the NYX Ombré Blush is a pleasant but unexceptional product that feels like it should be around $6 or $7, and I would not say is worth the $10 price point. You get a lot of product, but the color payoff is minimal. If buildable powder blushes are your thing, this is a decent product. Otherwise, I recommend the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes, which cost $8 and while they’re slightly more difficult to apply, are far more pigmented – my favorite is the Candy Coral which gives a rosy, gorgeous flush – one swipe of any of these babies delivers all the color you need.
