Paula’s Choice is a website founded by internationally-recognized skincare expert Paula Begoun, and has both an extensive encyclopedia of ratings of skincare products on the market today, as well as their own line of skincare. I find the website useful, and I often check it before buying something, but I don’t find it the end-all-be-all – while they have a general accuracy in that they highly rate some of the brands that consumers tend to find very high-quality and effective, and which I’ve found amazing, I’ve also tried highly-rated products on PC that did absolutely nothing for me (looking at you, Olay Regenerist Eye Serum). So that’s that. The Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask was the first of their products I’ve tried.
You guys…Sassy Go Go. Drop everything and watch it. It is a wonder. The level of adorable, and fun, and characters you can root for, is off the charts. This is unexpectedly one of my favorite dramas of the past two years, and unlike quite a few other recent ones, including Moorim School and Madame Antoine, doesn’t drop off partway through, but stays strong and beautifully written the whole time. This drama is only 12 episodes, and believe me, it’s one of literally a handful of times in my entire life where I actively wished a drama was longer – usually at around this point in the drama I’m starting to get tired and a little antsy. Here’s my full Sassy Go Go review.
Look. Look at how pretty this is! Might as well sell my soul to all-natural, organic skincare brand Acure because their products speak to my deepest weakness – simple, bright packaging with clean lines. Swoon. I initially planned to review both the Cell Stimulating Facial Mask and the Brightening Facial Scrub in this post, but I got carried away and wrote a lot of words about just the scrub, so I’m going to talk just about that, and will review the Cell Stimulating Facial Mask soon.[/caption]
I’d been wanting the Acure Organics Brightening Facial Scrub for months after seeing it featured in Allure’s Best of 2015 list as the best facial scrub and finally, after being unable to find it stocked at Target ever for love or money, ordered it on Amazon. I trust Allure recommendations more than any other source in the world, simply because I’ve found so many of them to be so effective, and there’s a great blend of science and skincare knowledge in their recommendations, without an obsessive commitment to any one brand of skincare thought.
Mizon is a highly popular affordable skincare brand in Korea, and the company’s products have recently been picked up by a number of Western retailers including Urban Outfitters, Peach and Lily, and UK-based Cult Beauty. I have and quite like their Multi Function Snail Repair Eye Cream as well (review on that probably to follow). Recently, I picked up the Mizon Good Night White Sleeping Mask.
Description/Claims: Mizon Good Night White Sleeping Mask is a moisturizing sleeping mask that works overnight to brighten the look of skin, leaving it looking more radiant, translucent and hydrated. Contains niacinamide for glowing skin, hyaluronic acid and glycerin for deep moisture, and botanical extracts to protect the skin from environmental stressors and irritation. Great for all skin types.
1. Vic Zhou and Barbie Hsu. An oldie, but I had to include it. This is one of those onscreen relationships that generated enough sparks it quickly became offscreen, to no-one’s surprise. Vic and Barbie had co-starred together of course in Meteor Garden, in which Vic played the second lead who pines after Barbie, and whom she’s attracted to, but doesn’t ultimately choose. They had strong obviosu chemistry in that drama, despite relatively few one-on-one scenes, and everyone was happy when afterward they were paired as the leads of an adaptation of a famous manga, Mars, about a shy, gifted artist with a tormented past, and a bad boy with demons.
When someone, anywhere online, says “Holy Grail,” my mind immediately flits to the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. Kiehl’s is a classic skincare brand, having been around since 1851, and the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream has been a staple of their line and a fan favorite since the 70s. It’s rare for brands to stick with one product – typically, they’re constantly launching new ones or reworking their existing ones so as to bring in a new crop of buyers and keep the brand fresh – which should give you a hint of just how good this cream is. 50 years from now, people will probably still be buying, and loving, the Ultra Facial Cream.
You guys, this drama is amazing. Not amazing as in the best written ever, or even the best acted ever, or shout-it-from-the-rooftops amazing, but it is solidly enjoyable and addicting and warm and funny in the ways you want from all dramas and so rarely get it. The premise and structure of Madame Antoine reminds me a lot of a Hong Sisters drama in its unabashed, delightful silliness and ability to occasionally deliver a hilarious one-liner or recurring joke. Admittedly it’s not as funny as a Hong Sisters drama, but guh, my loves watch it.
Han Ye-Seul is a very uneven actress – middling in Tazza and Spy Myung Wol, good in Will It Snow for Christmas and Birth of a Beauty – but she’s also one of the rare actresses who has gradually but steadily improved her acting skills over the course of her career. That shines through in Madame Antoine – she’s downright good. She’s always been insanely beautiful with a natural screen presence, which is what buoyed her in early dramas, but now she’s got the pathos and comedy down, so she can shine immense hurt from her eyes while also pulling off drunk-girl-on-phone better than most Korean actresses.
I’m obsessed with rose skincare, since I love the scent and texture of many rose-based products. I’ve been on the hunt for a complete rose-based skincare routine, and while I haven’t switched to the below routine entirely, I’m in love with the idea of every single product containing rose essence or rosehip oil. Check out the below routine I put together!
The main selling point of this little facial spray/toner is its price point – at only $7, anyone can afford it. Mario Badescu is a highly-regarded high-end beauty brand and very popular among beauty bloggers (the line’s most famous product is probably the Drying Lotion for acne, which I have yet to try as I don’t struggle too much with acne). Let’s explore first what exactly toners do.
